Love Letters to My Clients

(past, present & future)

Hi there,

You might be wondering why I decided to create this blog. First, I love writing. And second, I love my clients. Not in an inappropriate way, oh no–but the affection I feel for my clients is absolutely genuine.

Because I work with so many people who have experienced harm in their relationships–often beginning with their parents–the therapeutic relationship can become a kind of secret sauce for healing those old wounds. It offers a safe space to experiment with new ways of relating to others, and to begin to reset patterns that no longer serve them.

So, you can read the About Me page here on my website to learn some facts about me. But that’s only part of the picture.

My hope is that here, you’ll get a sense of what it’s actually like to sit with me in therapy–what it feels like to be in the room, working through things together.

Because I bring my full, authentic self to the therapy space. I honestly don’t know how else to be.

I look forward to sharing some thoughts with you.

–Melissa

P.S. In case you’re wondering, I truly write these letters. I use AI to proof them and may make a few small tweaks based on the input, but they are 100% written by me, in my voice, from my heart.

Maybe you rehearse every line before it comes out of your mouth—and by the time you’re ready to speak, the conversation has already moved on. . .
